Cricket Stories
I have been a lover of cricket all my life and played as a junior at Redditch until the age of 12. I did not pick up a bat again until the age of 17 when John Houghton talked me into coming to winter nets which ultimately led to my love affair with the game. It was at that point that John Dawes took me under his wing and I was unveiled as the 3rd team opening bowler. I would like to say at this point John did a hell of a lot for me as an individual and can not thank him enough and it was in 2007 one of my most enjoyable experiences on the Cricket field was Captaining the 3rd Team with JD returning on his 59 birthday bowling 12-12-4-2 great to see.

From the 3rd team I progressed through the 2nd team under John Houghton then into the 1st team under Peter Clarke and then the famous DDDDDave FFFFFinch! It was at some point in the 2nd Team I started to Bat up the order because the others in the side couldn’t clear the rope!!!!!

I played up until 98 but from 95-98 due to work commitments it was more quest appearances than regular cricket my favourite innings during that time was in 89 when I won Performance of the year against Worcester City much to Boycs disgust I don’t believe my gloves match my pads that day he wouldn’t understand the slog sweep!!!

Since moving back to the bank in 2005 I turned up for nets beginning of 2006 and have rediscovered my love for the game and being back at he club is great fun so it looks like your stuck with me for a while longer!!!
