Jocks Top 3 Moments in Cricket

| |

1. 2003 had too many favourite moments in it alone to single out any individual moment. Obviously, playing at Lords was absolutely amazing and an experience i will never forget (especially as i got a duck).

But it was more than that game alone that made 2003 such a special year. We played in two of the most incredible games of cricket that have ever been played. They were against Nottinghamshire side Plumtree and Staffordshire's Draycott & Hanbury. Paul Boycotts runs against Draycott were just unbelievable. We needed about 16 an over at one stage and boycs hit four or five massive sixes in about two overs. Plumtree needed about 12 to win from about 8 overs with 8 wickets in hand when they totally capitulated. we ended up winning by about 5 runs.

Another of my favourite moments came during that cup run when i was batting with skipper Robbo against Eastnor and smashed a huge six into the car park at the Bank and smashed his car windscreen.

2. 104 not out v Worcester 2007. Despite only being 23 i struggle to see this moment being topped in my cricketing life. It was my first and is my only league century, which is pretty special, but to score it batting alongside one of my best mates was also special. It also helped the 2nd's to avoid what would have been an inexplicable relegation. I'm sure i'll score more centuries in the future but not many will rank as highly as that one.

3. More from 2003 i'm afraid, but not the cup run this time. It was the two 2nd team performances against Feckenham and Romsley. The Feckenham game saw us rout our local rivals by some 270 runs. I made 82 not out with the bat and took a couple of wickets. I remember the game because we had such a strong side. It was one of Yorky's first games for the club and he took 5 wickets and Muel took one of the finest catches i've seen. I also seem to remember Big Ern getting a massive bruise when he took a catch from me at slip in the gut.

The other stand out was watching my brother score 201 not out against Romsley 2nd's in about 25 overs. Apart from being annoyed about not getting to bat i was pretty proud to watch my big bro demoralising our opponents. We scored the best part of 400 and declared with 3 overs to go. Sadly we failed to bowl Romsley out but it was an amazing day.
